Didn't read the whole thread, but there's no way someone copies down the first 18 schools and then stops, especially when that is a normal break off point for what people consider good schools on this site (T14 plus stepchildren UCLA, USC, Texas, and Vandy).

Or maybe if you actually clicked on the link and read the original post, you would notice that the OP claims the box said do not open till March 18th.

March ... April ... It was a second hand report that came from a Wal-Mart employee who probably felt rushed in the first place because he/she knew that the box wasn't supposed to be opened. The moth, day, or both might have been misread or mis-conveyed. I am not saying it's a real leak for sure, but I am not ruling it out because of the date either.

The list seems reasonable but I don't buy that WalMart story one bit. Somebody stocking shelves at Walmart would care enought to write law school rankings on their hand? Not just people working at Walmart, I doubt anybody who is not applying to law school would care one bit.

I thought about that too, but then I thought that the Wal-Mart employee could have been interested if his/her friend talked about the rankings a lot. Although, as friends, they wouldn't have that much in common any more

I wonder if one or two spots in the rankings (outside of T3) would mean any difference as far as employment prospects are concerned. Not like employees are suddenly going to recruit less from Chicago just because it fell to 7 or even 8.

The only people who look at the rankings as closely as we are are 0Ls, law students, and maybe recent grads. Even if hiring partners know the current rankings, they won't care as much as people on this thread.

The historical rankings have some shifting between Stanford and Harvard, and Columbia and NYU. The job opportunities, surprisingly, were not affected by this, nor was actual educational quality. It almost makes you wonder if these rankings have the powers we ascribe to them at all.

This is SO funny ... "surprisingly," the educational quality wasn't affected. Did you think that these guys would all of a sudden stop showing up to lecture consistently just because USNWR bumped the law school.

In the real world I would never try and casually converse with 20+ people at once, with people coming and going from the conversation at will, and people popping up near the end to say "I don't know what you guys were talking about, but here's my opinion.."

I also won't be closing the thread because what would TLS be if it wasn't a place for 0L's bash NYU and Berkeley.

This might be a dig at me because those are the only two schools I bashed earlier..

But, I really like Boalt. I think it is a fantastic school. The lack of schollys + the increased tuition makes it harder to attract a solid student body. I don't think it will leapfrog Chicago.
