Top Law Schools

I am interested in attending Campbell, but have not heard anything from Adcomm, except that my application has been held over for the March 15th meeting. Any input that would help ease my trouble mind?

What are the requirements of the Elon scholarship? Elon undergrad has a good reputation, but the law school is so new I would be very cautious.

Honestly, I know it is said here a lot, but I'd recommend retaking the LSAT. Campbell at sticker is a bad investment. NC has 7 law schools in an over saturated small market. If you attend Campbell, you will most likely be in debt 100k+ and if you even get a job, it will pay less than you are probably making now. I do think that being a police officer will help, though. Best of luck in whatever you choose.

I didn't vote for either option, because I don't think either is a good option. Retake is the one I'd select.

Gotcha. Is there a particular place you want to practice when you're done? Triad, Triangle, Charlotte, etc.

Also knowing if the Elon scholarship has strings attached would be helpful.

I am from Wilmington. I have a family and a home, I would like to return to the area.

I think he meant requirements to KEEP the scholly after you go there.

By "requirements," I'm pretty sure the previous poster meant what are the requirements for keeping the scholarship (i.e. scholarship stipulations). That will help out those who are telling you which to pick because a barely-accredited school with a scholarship requiring an extremely high GPA or requiring you to finish near the top of the class (Elon) is not a good deal. If there aren't any requirements, it is a better deal.

Then you're best off at Campbell. I had voted for Elon previously because I like the downtown Greensboro facility, think they're doing some interesting stuff and believe that within 10 to 15 years Elon will exceed Campbell in quality.

But, Elon has no connections Down East. On the other hand Campbell's original purpose was to educate lawyers for the eastern third of the state and there are a ton of Campbell grads in the Wilmington area. I think you'd have better luck making meaningful connections in Wilmington with Campbell alumni than trying to break the ice for Elon.

Is this for a scholarship? I thought the Leadership Fellowship was for summer. I could be wrong. I live in eastern NC and most of the attorneys here have Campbell degrees. Sorry to read the latest update, though.

If you're applying for the "Leadership Fellows" scholarship at Elon it's a scholarship for the full academic year and you need to maintain a 2.5 GPA (I believe). Leadership Fellows also have events they are supposed to participate in but those are more of a benefit than a burden. For example, when guest speakers come you get to meet with them in a small setting so when Sandra Day O'Connor came to Elon earlier this year, the Leadership Fellows got to meet her personally. In addition, you have a lot more summer internships made available to you. You would be better off getting one of their regular scholarships, however, because they are for a lot more money.
