The fact that these applicants are accepted to CCN in droves, screams YP to me.5ky wrote:A submedian GPA with a 172 doesn't really scream YP to me.

Well they probably took into account that you probably wouldn't go, but there are plenty of people who are 178/3.6+ got in. Probably didn't like your PS or something.of Benito Cereno wrote:Yea, well there is really no other reason I'd be put on priority reserve. 178/3.6... no why duke.Desert Fox wrote:D doesn't YPof Benito Cereno wrote:me me me. You may be right, but I'm still curious about why MVP practices so much yield protection, while similarly ranked (with a broad definition of similar, not trying to troll) schools like Northwestern, Duke and Georgetown don't. Also, lower ranked schools like BU and WUSTL don't YP, either. They probably receive a lot fewer 171+ applicants, but still.aznflyingpanda wrote:This is an amazing thread and serves a purpose other than group back patting for making CCN!!!!!
When you are as objectively bad as the three schools mentioned, you have to cherish the little things.scribelaw wrote:You may be right, but I'm still curious about why MVP practices so much yield protection, while similarly ranked (with a broad definition of similar, not trying to troll) schools like Northwestern, Duke and Georgetown don't. Yield is a small factor in USNWR. But I'd imagine a lot of people they're WLing would consider MVP, especially with $$. I know I would, but I think I'm destined for straight WL at this trio.
I think it is a couple of factors. They are in a deathrace to be number 7 in the country. Since it is only a small part of the rankings, DNCG don't care, but it might make the difference between MVP. Once V starts doing it, then M and P follow or V will always have an advantage.scribelaw wrote:You may be right, but I'm still curious about why MVP practices so much yield protection, while similarly ranked (with a broad definition of similar, not trying to troll) schools like Northwestern, Duke and Georgetown don't.
