Assuming everything on LSN is true is a colossal mistake.

If this person went to Georgia Tech, that's a bad GPA but not an atrocious one (at least as I've heard it). Paired with maybe some cutting-edge tech work experience, it's not totally implausible. I'm sure there are at least a couple of other schools with devastating average GPAs out there as well.

He has a LSAT above Northwestern's median, and I think he applied ED. Northwestern is known for placing significantly more weight on the LSAT and work experience than on GPA, and a 2.1 and a 2.9 have the same effect on their median.

Disclosure: My numbers are eerily similar to this applicant, and I have dreams of attending NW (just need a couple of points on the LSAT in a few weeks). I'm hoping that they forgive my crappy GPA, so take my (slightly biased) comments with a grain of salt.

Good luck, I think you're right. As long as you score over 170, have interesting/relevant work experience and have a compelling interview, it seems that Northwestern doesn't care too much about UG gpa.

This kid went to MSU, not Georgia Tech. I'm guessing his work experience is something hardcore.

Northwestern admitted everyone above one median who applied ED and had work experience.

I dunno. My 2.47 was bottom quarter in the AE department --- 2.1 has to be pretty close to DFL.

Of course that is after major attrition from the class --- up to 50% in the College of Science.

If this person is on TLS, he must love the idea of having an entire thread in his honor.

Perhaps he went to grad school and rocked it.

This one (from last cycle) shocked the hell out of me:

Both of my stats are better than hers. But I kinda doubt I'm gonna be getting a full Darrow, a Hamilton, and an acceptance from Yale and Harvard. URM is one thing but damn she musta rocked the PS and LORs.

Nothing I'm seeing in this thread strikes me as miraculous. Unusual, perhaps, but...
