Although not an "URM" in the official sense, does being a first generation american-anything count for something in this process?

I think I read that PR in America is treated differently from PR in PR. But otherwise, no. Just make it a nice story for PS.

maybe not always... but i'm in the same boat. wrote my PS about it and have been waitlisted at Georgetown and in committee review at Berkeley with a sub-par LSAT score. Based on my experience, I think it helps.

i was thinking you meant first generation in your fam to go to college. that helps in college admissions and probably helps at some law schools, like berkeley....first in your fam to go to college and then to go to law school is a big accomplishment although it's not rare enough to get a huge boost

I am a first generation American (and first to go to college)....I used it to intro in my personal statement. Not sure if it helps or not, but during my Vandy interview, my interviewer said that I had "an extremely interesting and unique background." (There is other stuff that is unusual other than the 1st GenAm thing though.)
