Waitlist Purgatory 2009-2010
For those languishing on waitlists they are almost sure never to be accepted from. Share your thoughts, and pain.
Damn you Chicago!
Edit: I thought it might be appropriate to link to the bitter pessimism thread.

I think I may be joining you. Meanwhile I still have 22 decisions to wait for.

Notre Dame, I love you and you show me no love back. You're letter of "we want you, just not that much" puts a dagger through my heart, but I still pursue you, almost like a stalker.

Hmm, I thought this fell under the USS: Bitter Pessimism (are there optimists on this site?) topic. I will be here very soon though, and it will suck. Good luck to everyone else.

Anyone signing up for the Feb LSAT? It's the only tried and true way to be proactive about getting of a waitlist. Padding medians/75%s makes you much more attractive.
LOCIs and the like just let them know you're interested and if they have a student who fits a similar profile to you who withdraws then you MIGHT be in. I don't like those odds.

UVA. Now that they're actively recruiting more candidates with ED, I feel like my waitlist to accept chances are about nil.

Yeah, I'm not optimistic. Thought hard about taking the Feb LSAT, but a.) I'm abroad and there's not one in my city so I'd have to travel a little, and b.) I really don't think I could put myself through that again. Just gonna treat my UVA and Penn WL's like rejections, especially since I've already graduated and I'm going to be at the same job till I start law school, so there's not much new that I can tell them.hopefulundergrad wrote:Anyone signing up for the Feb LSAT? Yeah, for all my preaching, I don't think a 3rd LSAT is in my future. Too much stress. I'm already above 75%s at MVPB and above/at medians at CCN.parker09 wrote:Yeah, I'm not optimistic. I haven't been yet ... but they're coming! At least, I hope they're coming, without a few WLs it's going to be A LOT of rejections.

So when you do a LOCI to a deferring school, what do you say? Anything different from one you'd send if you're WL?Veritas wrote:cool!hopefulundergrad wrote:Yeah!! Come pointlessly speculate with us!Lurkster wrote:Can held/deferred people hang out in here?

I just reiterated my interest and tried to touch on different things that what I elaborated on in my "Why?" essays.mayosmith wrote:So when you do a LOCI to a deferring school, what do you say? Like, for Michigan, my essay was mostly about the academic opportunities, so I used the LOCI to focus on the town/Michigan community and experience.
But essentially, I'm treating it like I would a WL.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
