I think a hold email would be more appropriate.

Dear Columbia Law School:

I wish to inform you that, after careful consideration, your school has been placed in my "Hold" category. which means that you are still under active consideration for where I might attend.

To proved a context for your present status, I have applied to a dozen schools, been accepted at nine, and received merit based scholarships at three. This year I will only be selecting one school to attend, and this year's pool of schools is among the largest and most qualified in my history. Therefore, your current standing represents a testament to Columbia Law School's unique strengths and fit.

While I cannot speculate on my final decision, I want you to know that you are among a select group of schools that I continue to consider - and will continue to consider throughout the rest of this application season. While I know that a last minute decision on my behalf might not be convenient for you, I will let you know by sometime in May.

In the interim, should you wish to admit me by March 31st, I will gladly consider that supplemental material in my decision. If during this time you decide that you no longer wish to be considered for my attendance, kindly notify me by contacting me at XXXXXXX@gmail.com.

Sorry again. For everyone else in the States if a 2/4 letter's already reached Canada it looks like none of you got one unless USPS is still really messed up.

Sorry again. For everyone else in the States if a 2/4 letter's already reached Canada it looks like none of you got one unless USPS is still really messed up.

True but I doubt it. The CLS has been making it out to Cali pretty quickly. I think we would've got it yesterday at the latest. I already checked my mail - crickets as usual. Actually there was an empty coffee cup in our mailbox.

Snail mail is so weird. I'm in Cali but my NYC (actually all my east coast stuff) has been getting here super quickly. I have a feeling that when CLS finally decides on me I'm going to know it within a couple days.

After 2/7 email, I got my vomit-colored materials in Europe today. 2/7 postmark, feel lucky that I got it sooner than I would have had it been shipped to my permanent address in the Midwest due to mail issues!

I kind of like the fact that the status checker for Columbia never shows anything beyond "Complete." I am getting status checker fatigue for my other schools...

If we want to apply for financial aid at Columbia before we're admitted just in case - is it just the fafsa we have to fill out or is there a separate application at Columbia? I'm so confused by all this!
