No offense but you guys really love to overcomplicate this as much as possible. I don't quite understand why people are freaking out to know that CLS simply hasn't made a decision on some applicants. Did you all really expect them to have a decision for every applicant come Feb? Why overanalyze it?

If I'm not mistaken, 1) They normally do have a pretty good record of deciding about most of the strong/weak candidates at least, so this "hold for people who would normally get in" business and "forgotten-about super-strong applicants" category are both sort of weird, and 2) TLS is based on overanalyzing everything (cf. my data-mining posts on 170+ scorers, YLS and SLS decision dates, etc.).

I don't know if someone has hypothesized this yet in nearly 300 pages of thread, but I'm starting to wonder if snow delays have affected not just snail mail but decision rate. That is, CLS admissions people may have been slowed by being snowed out and may not have gotten to all of the apps that they normally get to. Yale is a good 1-2 weeks behind schedule, as far as I can tell, so why not CLS, too? That might be the reason for the extended waves of admits.

That's a reasonable assumption. But there are a couple auto-admits (numbers wise) who submitted early. So it's still just a little odd that CLS would be hesitant about their apps provided there's nothing wrong with the rest of the app. I think we should all just stop expecting stuff to come in our mailboxes everyday and just cross our fingers we hear something soon.

Although now there's apparently a 2/3 postmark, so that extends everything by another day. And I want to see if anyone gets a 2/7 tomorrow. Oh boy.

Well, if you put any weight into the crazed speculation going on round these parts about how CLS is doing things this cycle, then a good number of people on the hold list are going to get good news at some point...it is, like someone said, the second best thing after an acceptance.

Just got an email from CLS Admissions and I nearly died.

But turns out, it was maybe my only app on which I listed my address abroad, apparently. So since they're sending the packet internationally, they also emailed me a copy of my acceptance letter. Whew.

It's just a one page PDF and says nothing about scholarships - did that info come by any chance on a separate page? Or can I kiss my dreams of a Hamilton bye-bye?

I really think there will be some movement off the hold list once the deadline passes since there's just so many holds this year. Hopefully you'll be one of the ones who hear back soon.
