+1 omg.
He really, genuinely supports veterans. Most politicians pay a lot of lip service to "the troops" but don't actually give a flying fuck about what happens to soldiers once the limelight has moved on.

I'm not watching the debate or anything, I just have a soft spot for Jim Webb because of that.
How do you feel about Bernie's support of veterans?

If you're unfamiliar with his record there, here's a link to a pretty good politico article on it: http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/ ... ans-119708
He seems pretty legit based on that article. Taking care of soldiers is a pretty big deal to me. Most people in America have little to no contact with the military, and so don't understand what a toll two decade long wars take on service members and their families. That's why it drives me bonkers when someone like Bush wants to send ground troops back to Iraq. They just don't care about the human cost of it all.

It's a huge deal to me. Every move affects my Dad's insurance. He's a Vietnam Marine Vet, not asking for much other than basic human dignity. Emory and the VA there should be able to provide that.

And how exactly would you characterize the terror-supporting Islamist regime that regularly calls for the annihilation of America's closest ally in the Middle East? Whose political leaders has been known to make such comments as "Iran have no homosexuals" and "America is the Great Satan"? Eccentric?
I would characterize it as the fucking IRANIAN GOVERNMENT and not IRANIANS. This isn't hard.
Point 100% taken - I understood you to be taking issue with "enemy".

Rant revoked.

I have back to back meetings from 10-5 today with only a half hour lunch break. It's very important to me that you all post dog pics ITT to re-energize me every time I'm able to pop in. Thanks in advance for accommodating this request.

I would say Hillary won, but I think everyone but Lincoln Chafee and Jim Webb (who was in the military) put in really good performances. I felt Hillary did a good job reassuring the democratic base that she's a strong candidate, which is enough to keep her ducks in a row for now.

It's hard to say how the debate will effect poll numbers, but up until yesterday there were still like 20% of people nationally saying they would vote for Biden and it seems clear now that he won't be jumping in. I see that as a very large portion of the base that is still undecided, and eventually they'll have pick a side. Assuming the Biden numbers fall I see Hillary going up a few points to maintain her clear lead, Bernie getting a pretty sizable jump, and O'Malley going up enough to justify staying in until the next debate. Webb (who was in war) and Chafee need to get the hell out of there.
There fixed it for you. I saw enough highlights this morning to get a better idea of how it went down.
He killed a man, dontchya know.
I was cringing every time he spoke, but him saying his favorite enemy is the Vietnamese soldier he killed was the worst.

I worry about Hillary not being about to turn out voters and being an easy target for a Republican opponent, and I worry about Bernie's ability to win a general election and to actually follow through on his promises. I like to believe that Biden would be somewhat stronger in all of those areas, plus he's Joe-Fucking-Biden. He's probably the most charismatic politician of his generation, and we would benefit just from having him up on stage.

ETA: Although I also think O'Malley could be a decent counterweight to Bernie and Hillary, but his problem right now is that he's lumped in with Chafee and Webb. Hence why they need to get out.
Since I run in conservative circles, I am genuinely surprised to hear you say that. Biden is the most gaft prone foot in mouth pol besides GwB. And I am really surprised you would say that considering Bill Clinton is in his generation.
My take on Biden is that he is charismatic enough, but he's also the greatest legislative mind we've had since LBJ.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
