When I think of Chicago's political leanings I think of Strauss and Bloom, both of which are pretty damn conservative. However, they've both been gone for quite awhile now.urbanist11 wrote:tbf I think it's less conservative than it used to be. I have Posner's How Judges Think laying around somewhere. Never have gotten around to reading it though.urbanist11 wrote:Still haveThe Abyss wrote:When I think of Chicago's political leanings I think of Strauss and Bloom, both of which are pretty damn conservative. I couldn't help it, I'm sorry. Too much recent binge watching of Archer.

Sounds accurate to me!Hildegard15 wrote:Could we even do one for the ladies? I feel like we are all really left-leaning.
My guess would be:
Barley
Hilde-----Slippin----------------------Nobody cuz all the lady TLSers are awesome
Salander
I'm sorry Jettison, I have no idea where to put you. I think on the left with all of us, but I'm not sure how left.
I have no evidence for any of this. Entirely speculation, I have no clue really.
There are really so few of us who are regulars

The only thing you could probably say I'm "conservative" about is gun rights. But even then I think regular safety and proficiency training should be mandatory and gun show/online sale loopholes should be closed. That and our healthcare/mental health system is seriously messed up, but that's a huge issue by itself.lakers3 wrote:An hour late, but I amGenerally wrote:Is there anyone who is at all conservative in this thread?

I come from a small family business background, pretty conservative on taxes (besides the very top tax brackets probably). Granted, I'm from a very liberal state (bet you can guess by my user name) and maybe I won't see myself as conservative if I go somewhere else for school.doublehoohopeful wrote:The only thing you could probably say I'm "conservative" about are gun rights. The Barley: Be very nice and funny and lovely to everyone. Speak your mind, but always allowing for the option of friendship. Everyone will then love you, because you are always nice, in addition to being funny and clever.
The Hilde: You say what you think and you do not soften your meaning. You leave open the possibility of reconciliation, but you respond to things you disagree with in the in-your-face Italian way you were raised. The animosity you face only serves to make you rage harder, because you don't want to give into the maleness of the internet.
