Whacka, I've been wondering - are students at your school very involved in gun control advocacy? That's my main reservation with Bernie (other than that he's too liberal to win)

Oh that's not what I expected, interesting.whacka wrote:Not particularly. 4/16 isn't a political point for people here. My liberal friends are for it, my conservative friends aren't, and it usually follows the same debate you see nationally, but it's pretty detached from events on our campus.barley wrote:

Yeah, I guess it makes sense that it would be hard to talk about. Good point.whacka wrote:I think it's partially because it's very close to a lot of people's hearts so it's not the same as citing statistics or a tragedy that happened across the country. People can't do it as flippantly or callously as they would do those things; it's generally just left out of debates. Also, the gun issue is one that I think isn't as clear of a party divide in SW Virginia. A lot of people hunt for their food (the surrounding areas are very poor) and way more hunt for sport, so people come to school with that sort of culture already ingrained in them. To show a little bit more of my politics, I'm personally not a huge gun control person, although I consider myself to be extremely liberal. It's just not an issue that I get passionate about, even though I don't own guns, don't come from a family that owns a gun, and never plan on owning a gun.barley wrote:Oh that's not what I expected, interesting.whacka wrote:Not particularly. 4/16 isn't a political point for people here. I have you pegged as the most liberal guy ITT (which is a compliment) so it surprised me that you didn't seem as into it. But to each their own!

I think Bears and Muiraquita fit somewhere between Whacka and Based but I'm not sure where yet.
Edit: I'm actually not sure between DCC and Hoo2 but I think they are both pretty conservative
