Yup. I was held on Friday.
Sorry to hear that, but still better than outright w/l or ding.
Any other pre-Xmas JR1 who has not received any decision yet?

Yes - stats and dates on LSN. I was held last Wednesday. An updated transcript and LOCI are in the mail, and two LORS are currently being worked on. Hope I can manage to get out of the "held" hell.

They may well release a batch of URM decisions later in the cycle. I also heard that in addition to a separate URM batch, they sometimes do a separate "international" batch.

Seems like today's JR2 batch has been quite tiny (only 6 reported in this thread): there had been dozens of ppl reporting their JR2 for the previous two batches..

They also seemed to start later in the afternoon. last year it looks like there were some TS2 the day after MLK as well (LSN). Maybe we will see some movement tomorrow.
probably just hopeful speculation

I'm curious what % of the offers have been given now.
Like over 50% of the offers they'll make this year?

I'm not surprised; reception is killer up there. Congrats though, and the same to all the new admits!

held today too, UR 11/19, and this is the first and only contact i've had from harvard since then.
bit of a surprise i wasn't outright rejected: just under a 3.7 and a 172.
i know this has probably been discussed at length, but for the new batch of us that just got held, does anyone have any light to shed on what "holding" is, why harvard does it, etc? it seems a bit weird not to just throw us on a waitlist or something. thanks!

any other pre-Xmas JR1 w/o a JR2 around here?
yep, me too. sent 11/12 w/o recs, all recs in by 11/18, UR 11/23, JR1 email and complete e-mail 12/1, JR1 12/8............held 1/8:-(
there's a whole thread of people like this on this forum (JR1 w/o JR2), and most of us had pre-xmas JR1s.

Almost same dates as you:
JR1 email 1/8
JR1 1/12
Complete 1/14
JR2 1/18
I was sleeping when JR called and I woke up to a garbled text message from Google Voice saying something about "Josh Irvin's Harvard" and "offer you spot are classic 2013". Now I know what it feels like to have to pinch my cheeks.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
