Thanks, I hope so! I feel so inadequate on this thread with a 165! 173/172 median for Columbia=WOWMr. Somebody wrote:Chances of getting off the wait list are slim but you're in a good position as a urm with those numbers. Hang in thereAqua wrote:Went complete early January and no news since. 165/3.8, but I was hoping my work experience and diversity (half AA, half German) would help me get into Columbia...thoughts/feedback? Would it be crazy to send in a "Why Columbia" essay at this point?
If I make it onto the waitlist and crack 170 on the June LSAT, will it help me off the waitlist?

Good News: I didn't get any mail today so I'm not rejected. Bad News: I didn't get any mail today so I'm not accepted.
I hate this waiting stuff.

178/3.8, went complete in early December and still waiting. At the risk of sounding entitled (and only since these things are so numbers-driven), I'm really trying to figure out what went wrong.

Nothing for me yet, either. What gives? I'm between the 25% and median in both categories. Maybe those of us who didn't get the hold email means we're headed for Rejection City, USA?
I would be Okay with that, because I dread the thought of living in Manhattan, but I would just like to know.
Let's get some vomit in that mailbox! C'mon, yeah!

Another day, another disappointment. I guess that 2/16 acceptance was indeed a fluke.

(I think if anyone is making it off the hold list, it's you pal).

Interesting. Sorry to hear it pal. Good luck though.
And on that note: can all the holds give us dates please? I want to see if there is any rhyme and reason to the holds.

I'm really pulling for you WhiteGuy, Columbia ought to let you in based on your commitment to analyzing the admissions process alone.WhiteGuy5 wrote:bk641 wrote:i went complete in early september... and yes, they are real. the 174 is a retake though, i'm a 168/174.

Awww<3. Thanks
But honestly, over-analyzing the admissions process is nothing more than a hobby. I think 98% of it is speculation (especially my own). It just helps calm the nerves and gives me something to think about.

Welp, I added myself to the google doc of people waiting on decisions, though my app didn't go complete until a little more than a week ago so I'm not getting antsy or anything. Plus Columbia is my super reach school so I'm not holding my breath or anything >.>

Do we still think they're giving out named scholarships? Or do all of the Hamiltons/Butlers go out in the first wave or two?WhiteGuy5 wrote:They are trying to figure out which of their name scholarships they want to give you.countercouper wrote:178/3.8, went complete in early December and still waiting. Re: Columbia c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I was bored so I made a very possibly bullshit quick analysis. Review of LSN showed 216 acceptances last cycle. Lets just assume 10% less applicants this year (totally made up for analysis purposes). We should then expect roughly 194 acceptances this year on LSN. So far there are 122 acceptances. 122/194 = 63% of the class has been filled. If there is 15% drop in applicants, we expect 184 acceptances. 122/184 = 66% of the class has been filled.
POSSIBLY VERY WRONG CONCLUSION: 1/3 of all acceptances still to come
