Ah I did miss that. I am hispanic, but dont think that counts as URM. Hopefully at a place at Michigan it helps a littleUnamSanctam wrote:A little, but remember boosk is listed as URM.dolfan0516 wrote:With a 165? Means I have some little hope!

I'm not sure about the Hispanic boost. I'm Hispanic and have a meaningful soft, and I know at least one of those is helping me, because I've outperformed my numbers so far.dolfan0516 wrote:Ah I did miss that. URM does not help in Michigan as they can't take that into account when making admissions decisions.UnamSanctam wrote:A little, but remember boosk is listed as URM.dolfan0516 wrote:With a 165? Means I have some little hope!

I applied with basically the same thing except a 170. I figured it was worth a hail mary. But I probably just talked myself into thinking I have a chance because <3 Michigan.givemea170 wrote:Thinking about applying. 2.94 GPA and 171. Worth a shot?

There can't be quotas or a specified numeric boost, but URM can certainly be (and absolutely is) taken as a factor for insuring a diverse class.citygirl000 wrote:is this true?JoeMo wrote:URM does not help in Michigan as they can't take that into account when making admissions decisions.UnamSanctam wrote:A little, but remember boosk is listed as URM.dolfan0516 wrote:With a 165? URM still matters at Michigan. Absolutely.

Checking in. Hogwarts is my first choice for some compelling personal reasons, but also for seeing the enthusiasm and camaraderie in on this thread and upon reading Dean Zs blog. Waiting on bated breathe over here!

I doubt that Mich would want to play around and make decisions based on URM since they're forbidden from doing so. Too lazy to go back and check but somewhere before page 100 someone quoted the Michigan law against this.UnamSanctam wrote:+100000000JustE wrote:ThisThere can't be quotas or a specified numeric boost, but URM can certainly be (and absolutely is) taken as a factor for insuring a diverse class.

URM is still a boost at Michigan.
ETA: For anyone who's interested, pull up the LSN graphs. Tell me what those stray green dots in the lower GPA/LSAT areas say. I know it's a self-selected sample, but it clearly shows that there is a URM boost and it is important in Michigan.
