+1 Also received the fall grade request today. Hopefully it's a good sign.Cookie2 wrote:Fall grade request today. At least I know they haven't rejected me yet.

I feel like I shot myself in the foot by sending my fall grades to the LSAC as soon as they were posted. I'll never know if they wanted my grades or not...

definitely don't think this is a bad thing as long as you notified schools that the grades were postedCorrupty wrote:I feel like I shot myself in the foot by sending my fall grades to the LSAC as soon as they were posted. I'll never know if they wanted my grades or not...

You're supposed to let schools know they should be expecting a new transcript from LSAC?JamMasterJ wrote:definitely don't think this is a bad thing as long as you notified schools that the grades were postedCorrupty wrote:I feel like I shot myself in the foot by sending my fall grades to the LSAC as soon as they were posted. CLS actually requests that updated transcripts be sent directly to their office, so even though it shows that your updated trancript was sent through LSAC, I expect that you would receive a fall grade request regardless, assuming your application has previously gone "complete"...Corrupty wrote:I feel like I shot myself in the foot by sending my fall grades to the LSAC as soon as they were posted. You don't have to - they get notifications for updates just like they do for your initial application.seanPtheB wrote:You're supposed to let schools know they should be expecting a new transcript from LSAC?JamMasterJ wrote:definitely don't think this is a bad thing as long as you notified schools that the grades were postedCorrupty wrote:I feel like I shot myself in the foot by sending my fall grades to the LSAC as soon as they were posted. As the 9 schools I told I was sending an updated transcript told me...

Speaking from experience, Columbia's request specifically stated that they do not accept updated transcripts that come exclusively via LSAC if you receive a fall grade request. Almost sounded like they don't look at LSAC updates once your file is "complete".luxxe wrote:You don't have to - they get notifications for updates just like they do for your initial application.seanPtheB wrote:You're supposed to let schools know they should be expecting a new transcript from LSAC?JamMasterJ wrote:definitely don't think this is a bad thing as long as you notified schools that the grades were postedCorrupty wrote:I feel like I shot myself in the foot by sending my fall grades to the LSAC as soon as they were posted. I understand. He asked if you have to notify any school about LSAC updates specifically, not necessarily Columbia updates.Elendil wrote: Speaking from experience, Columbia's request specifically stated that they do not accept updated transcripts that come exclusively via LSAC if you receive a fall grade request. Fair enough, didn't mean to insult your understanding... just want him to have the best CLS-specific info.luxxe wrote:I understand. Ok sorry guys but I'm still a bit confused...So if I didn't receive a fall grades request from CLS but wanted my file to get updated with my most recent grades is it enough to have just sent my transcripts to LSAC? Or do they need to go directly to CLS even though they never asked for them?

According to their admissions instructions (http://web.law.columbia.edu/sites/defau ... ctions.pdf), you need to forward updated official transcripts directly to the Office of Admissions if you want them to receive and consider them:seanPtheB wrote:Ok sorry guys but I'm still a bit confused...So if I didn't receive a fall grades request from CLS but wanted my file to get updated with my most recent grades is it enough to have just sent my transcripts to LSAC? Sorry to prolong this conversation, but admissions said that can be done through LSAC.Elendil wrote:According to their admissions instructions (http://web.law.columbia.edu/sites/defau ... ctions.pdf), you need to forward updated official transcripts directly to the Office of Admissions if you want them to receive and consider them:seanPtheB wrote:Ok sorry guys but I'm still a bit confused...So if I didn't receive a fall grades request from CLS but wanted my file to get updated with my most recent grades is it enough to have just sent my transcripts to LSAC? Haha, I didn't mean to start a panic. When I sent them to the LSAC, my file updated at CLS. You can see what schools have requested/received reports and when the latest one has been sent to the schools. Almost all schools received them the day after they were received, including Columbia.

Did you guys receive responses from Columbia when they received your Fall grades from your school? I sent mine about a month ago and never received a response.

They responded when I sent them informally via email but while I'm assuming they got my official transcript I never heard either way.sports wrote:Did you guys receive responses from Columbia when they received your Fall grades from your school? Opened mail. Large envelope from Columbia...
...College in Chicago. My brother goes there for TV production. Addressed to my folks.
Bummer, at least no ding/WL, though.

Re: Columbia c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Looking over LSN's data from last year, it seems there was a surge right around now Feb. 14th, 15th. Then there was another surge in early March, 1st-8th. Neither was as large as the late January release. OF course, given that this cycle seems slightly delayed so far, we may might suggest that those two acceptance waves should be pushed back about a week, meaning there should be a big wave of acceptances next week. That's my prediction.JamMasterJ wrote:Anyone have an idea as to when the next semi-large group is coming?MachineLemon wrote:Opened mail. Large envelope from Columbia...

I live in NYC, and I received the envelope today (yay!), so I'm guessing a lot of you should be receiving yours tomorrow or Friday!

If last year's trends hold true this could be big news.

Got into Columbia today (02/15). Applied 9/14, received a fall grades request 01/27. Hope other people get letters soon!
PS - If you don't get scholly info with the acceptance letter, does that pretty much mean you're not getting a merit scholarship?
