Yeah that's what I was trying to say but couldn't find the right words. Yeah, I mean the truth is that while I still care, I don't care nearly as much as I did before I got into Stanford. Put it this way: this isn't stressful anymore; it's actually sort of fun.

Re: Harvard 2010!
You and GP were both correct. I figured if I got into Stanford I would just withdraw all my applications except maybe my Yale app and call it a day. But watching Managamy still worry about Chicago and Penn and etc. and you keep up with the Harvard thread makes me figure that even if I am admitted to Stanford, there will be no relief. I imagine I will be in the same boat as you guys.
Law school admissions is a painful process.

Re: Harvard 2010!
Got held as well. Complete 9/29. I doubt I can manage another LOR, but I might send in a LOCI.psychomohel wrote:Now that I'm in Chicago I probably won't be updating mine either.Kretzy wrote:I got held today as well. Complete 9.29.
I don't think I'm going to go through the trouble of updating my file though.
Has anyone uncovered any useful information regarding applicants who were held in previous cycles? When did they hear, how likely/unlikely is an admit after being held, etc?

Re: Harvard 2010!
To echo crackberry from above, it's not a painful process. It's just rather intriguing and entertaining to think about scoring more +1s from law schools; I'd be lying to say that I don't like receiving flattering personal attentions from prestigious institutions. I've found the whole admissions cycle very pleasant overall, possibly the most enjoyable experience that I've had in several years.VoidSix wrote:You and GP were both correct. Just got a complete e-mail from Harvard, though my status checker says I've been UR since 12/22. ?

Ditto on both complete email and UR date. I think there's been some talk about how the process at H goes: UR, Complete, (JR1), UR, (JR2), decision. Can anyone back that up/modify?

the JR1 can come before the complete or they can both come at the same time, and i don't think you go UR a second time after the complete

^ Hm. So by that logic, if I have gotten the complete email, and no JR1 before or at the time of said email --> No JR1 for me --> Dinged at H ??
Please advise.

some people got the complete email before the JR1. for others, the JR1 came first. for me, they came within a couple minutes of one another, JR1 first, though.....so don't freak out yet

This is normal as we’re not evaluating candidates in a vacuum but rather trying to select a class from the entire applicant pool.
If you have new information that we should have to evaluate your candidacy, definitely send it in. Updated transcripts should be sent to LSAC, but feel free to send us other updates such as honors or awards you’ve recently won, a new job, or anything else that you think could materially impact our evaluation of you. (Keep in mind that we do not open email attachments, so most updates should be sent to our office via postal mail.) Otherwise, sit tight and try not to stress too much. We’ll try and get you a decision as soon as we can.

Don't worry, JR1's are largely perfunctory...cali09 wrote:Had my JR1 yesterday and felt like it didn't go well. I was extremely nervous and my voice was really shaky. I gave really simple answers and the entire interview lasted less than 5 minutes. I asked 4 questions at the end because I spoke so little.
Anyone have a similar experience? I feel like I can say goodbye to my chances at Harvard...
Mine: 4.5 mins flat, felt like I rushed or seemed flustered... JR told me I'd hear back in 4-6 weeks when I asked him about decision time frames... I felt things weren't looking good.
Result: Got a JR2 four or five days later.
So don't worry too much

Any holds today? Hopefully they don't send out another batch anytime soon.

Re: Harvard 2010!
I just got a hold email about 15min ago. Applied late september. I'm not expecting to get into HLS so I'm not gonna feel any better until the rejection emails start coming out; if I make it through the first wave of rejections, then I'll feel better. It's not very comforting to hear that people with auto-reject numbers are getting held.Core wrote:Any holds today? Hopefully they don't send out another batch anytime soon.

just got the hold email as well . . . does anyone know much about this vis a vis Harvard? Is it a soft reject, or do people actually get it after being held?

For all of you who got holds, when did you apply? Do you mind sharing numbers?

Re: Harvard 2010!
All the people who got hold emails yesterday applied and went complete in September or very early October. Not sure about today's batch. Some of the hold email recipients had JR1s, others did not. It's all very confusing.fidesverita wrote:For all of you who got holds, when did you apply? Do you mind sharing numbers?
