+1. It just seemed so perfunctory (which I guess is completely understandable given that there are 1100 of these things.)
I was originally hoping that there would be another batch of JR2s before the office closes on the 24th, but I think January may be more likely.

There was a batch yesterday reported on TLS, although there's only one person on LSN who updated accordingly.

Just had my JR1 as well. Given that it was only 4 minutes and 45 seconds long, I think I'll just go join the JR1/No JR2 thread now and settle in ... forever.

You can't draw any conclusions from it being 4 minutes and 45 seconds. The interviews are notoriously short and he oftentimes seems uninterested in what you have to say (this happens to admits). As long as you didn't say something insane, you were fine.

He said something about my file going to faculty review, so I assume it will be a few weeks, maybe even late January.
I said about 20% of what I wanted to say and about 50% as well as I had hoped ><

To those who've been through the JR1: approximately how long after you went under review did you receive the email/phone message to schedule JR1?

For most applicants, it's 5-10 days after the application goes "under review" on the status checker.
A few applicants, however, did not receive a JR1 email until several weeks after their application went under review.

Previously, the JR1 --> JR2 time was approximately a week for most folks (once Harvard began admitting people). I think people with JR1s this week and late last week might start hearing back the first week of January, no?

Ya, I was UR 11/9 and he said on the phone that he just got to my file at the end of last week. I think we have to remember it's an office, not a factory, and more of a committee than an assembly line.

my app was submitted 10/23, complete 11/5, and JR1 11/13.
i haven't heard anything since: NO JR2.
I feel like its a bad sign~
is this more of a pattern for wait-lists and/or ejections--it seems most/others heard back right away
AHHH!

Not necessarily my JR1 lasted roughly 5 minutes as well. It is by no means a bad sign.

I was told that my file would go back into review as well. I wouldn’t read too much into that.

Slightly over 2 weeks.

I know JR1s of 4-5 minutes that resulted in a JR2. He tells everyone that their file goes back into review; I got the JR2 five days later, but some people waited much longer.

Yep.. here's how it went for me: JR1 of 4 and a half minutes, he told me I should hear back 4 -6 weeks later... i thought those were all bad signs.
Got a JR2 5 days later.

I'm guessing the chance of JR2s today or tomorrow is approximately 0%, unfortunately.

My JR1 lasted <5 minutes, including my 2 questions, even though I felt I adequately answered his questions. Good sign or bad?

As I noted above, several people had interviews in the 4:30-5:00 range before receiving JR2s.

I'm going to hold out hope (probably unrealistically, at least for me)

You're a shoe-in. Don't even worry about it. You'll be in by early January.

Good sign. The portion of the interview where he asked me questions lasted like 5 minutes, and that was just due to me giving long answers. I consider it a good thing when his level of interest in you seems to be low.

hm, my JR1 was <5 min, and his level of interest in me was very low (no followup q's at all). but, i've been passed over for JR2's 3 times now. this is only to say that i think it's neither good nor bad, and not a sign really of things to come. i'm a borderline #s candidate, and i feel like it's really the rest of your app that actually matters for admission. so, you're fine! good luck!

What do you mean by "passed over JR2's 3x in a row"?
Is this your 3rd time/year applying to H?

For the past 3 times JR2 notifications were sent out, he was not among the recipients.
