Personally, I think it wouldn't hurt to do it. And it'll help keep you sane while you wait for your LORs!

I'm still going to suggest that we all go all-in on Cornell or UVA or Michigan and just ball out, be one big force of fun, and make everyone else jealous.

I'm just not sure I can write useful "Why X" essays for most schools given my numbers. I have a solid essay for one school (guess which one), but I think I'm just going to let the others ride. In addition, I have some compelling addenda, so I want to keep my application as short as possible.

benwyatt wrote:I'm planning to write "Why X" essays for Penn, Duke, UVA, Michigan and NU. Those are the schools I've heard it said that "why x" essays are more important for.
I'd write one for NYU except I'm already submitting an additional scholly essay which shows increased interest and there's the advice not to write them for T6
My plan was to do it for everywhere except Chicago and possibly NU and Michigan, just because all three are in locations where I really can't see myself living. And Harvard, because who doesn't want to go to Harvard.

Ben, was the advice not to write for T6 because it'll hurt you, or just because it won't help? I was planning on writing NYU and Columbia ones (especially NYU - I have a lot to say).
