It's okay, you shouldn't feel badly. I spent most of Friday watching all of the episodes of Mr. Robot. Phenomenal show. I highly recommend.

Ooh, yes, it's on my list - I've had many good recs about it from friends.
I read this as "I got good letters of rec from friends" and thought you were getting desperate because the carrier pigeons didn't make it or something...

I ate a rotisserie chicken. Then I drank some orange soda.

Productive day.

I'm feeling pretty zen about my LORs - I decided that I'll be happy as long as I submit by the 3rd week of September, so they can take their sweet time.

My week's goal is to draft one "Why X" essay a day, starting with Duke! I got weirdly excited about Duke yesterday for some reason.

Agreed. The DC metro area is weird because there are people from all over the nation here and we are sheltered by those sweet, sweet federal dollars.

Woooo, yay Duke. I'm also trying to set this goal for myself, but whether or not that will happen...
+1
It's only like 2 paragraphs, that's doable, right?
I think it's doable! I might miss a day if I decide to hang out with friends or something, but even so it'll be easy to catch up.

I'm just really hating that the biggest thing keeping me from applying to schools now is completely out of my hands. Not that I need to be applying now, but I'm a control freak.
I feel ya. I just know that I'd probably be skipping Why X's for certain schools I don't love, or writing really lazy ones, if I were able to submit right away. So I've pretty successfully convinced myself that the wait is a good thing
