Sorry the picture is so small. Hopefully you remember those shirts.

UR 1/21, no news at the moment. Complete 11/4/09. We will see if U of C rejects me as brutally as they did for undergrad.

Just because you've never heard of the super-double-secret scholarship don't mean it doesn't exist. Duh.

I read somewhere about Chicago's harsh grading policy...can anyone elaborate on what that is?

I'm still at 12/14 (September complete and went UR on 11/25). I really think we may all be in the WL group, cos I havent seen any WLs reported amongst RD applicants so far. Though it is odd that they haven't already informed us about the decision.Tuyarp wrote:Can't all of us be admits?? I wouldn't say it is harsh necessarily, just more specific than most. Copied from the wiki page:def2104 wrote:I read somewhere about Chicago's harsh grading policy...can anyone elaborate on what that is?
The Law School employs a unique grading system with a range from 155 to 186. (The grading scale was previously 55-86, but the school prefixed their grades with a "1" in 2003 to avoid confusion with traditional grading scales.) These numerical grades convert to the more familiar alphabetical scale as follows: 155-159 = F, 160-167 = D, 168-173 = C, 174-179 = B, 180-186 = A. For classes of more than 50 students, professors are encouraged to set the median grade at 177, with the number of grades above a 180 approximately equaling the number of grades below a 173. Professors, however, are entitled to set a lower median at his or her discretion.
A student graduates "with honors" if a final average of 179 is attained, "with high honors" if a final average of 180.5 is attained, and "with highest honors" if a final average of 182 is attained. The last of these achievements is rare; typically only one student every few years will attain the requisite 182 average. Additionally, the Law School awards two class-rank based honors at graduation. The top 10% are honored as "Order of the Coif," and the top 5% are honored as "Kirkland Scholars" (a designation created in 2006 by a $7 million donation from the law firm of Kirkland & Ellis).

I sent my application in on 1/05, but I'm still incomplete. Anyone else in a similar situation? Should I call?

I'm in the same boat except I was a mid-October applicant and am still at 12/21 UR. Feels like a WL to me.ankit wrote: I'm still at 12/14 (September complete and went UR on 11/25). From looking at LSN and people going complete, I am not worried yet; I am fully expecting it to take 4-6 weeks to go complete.

I don't understand why Chicago takes so much longer than everyone else...I really like them, but I might not find out whether I'm in until April, according to LSN from past years...That will make it hard to visit.

I was going to call on Friday, but their only taking calls from 10am to 3pm. I just missed the window. I called a few other schools and inquired why I was not complete after apply over 3 weeks ago. Some are behind because of the volume and some did not receive my LSAC report at the time they received my application so data entry lagged. Maybe this is the case with Chicago. The majority just updated that I was complete when I called them.

Re: U Chicago 2010
If you are wondering about the LSAC report being sent to Chicago, you can check the date it was on your LSAC account (Apply dropdown, report status). For me, it did take about a week to get sent out and then an updated transcript was sent out on 1/11. I am hoping the updated transcript won't slow me down!hiromoto45 wrote:K's Logic wrote:I am still at "12/30 Application Received"Rawlsian wrote:I sent my application in on 1/05, but I'm still incomplete. Think I read something about the switch to paperless not being as smooth as they were hoping it would be, and there being more applications than usual.scribelaw wrote:+1.eshort wrote:I am still sitting with a 12/31 - Application Received.K's Logic wrote:I am still at "12/30 Application Received"Rawlsian wrote:I sent my application in on 1/05, but I'm still incomplete. I'm still "application received 12/18" - should I be concerned that I haven't gone complete yet or changed to UR?

"We have now released most decisions on files completed in Sept. and Oct. However, Ad. Comm. is still carefully considering some early files"
Who else is in this batch? I wonder why we've gotten additional review?
