Turns out I had a spelling/grammar error on my "why cornell" essay.
On the plus side, I wrote a "why cornell" essay?
HAHAHA, i did this same thing for my why duke essay....so then i wrote them an email apologizing for it like the next day. it was more of just an awkwardly phrased sentence, but it was awkward enough for me to regret writing it. anyway, they wrote me an email back like "thank you for your addendum, it will be added to your file." i was really pissed for a couple days until i realized i'd never actually go to duke, especially after getting some other t14 acceptances (sub-d.c. south scares me)
P.S. haven't heard from duke since my app went complete in september....i hope this serves as a humorous anecdote and nothing more

Good luck on the torts exam tomorrow. It's been switched to noon in the engineering building.CyLaw wrote:Cutthroat??? Never heard of anyone saying Cornell is cutthroat. Yes, people study a lot here, but I have never encountered anyone who was not willing to sit down and talk with you about a subject that you may have a problem understanding. At least the people I know are very helpful towards each other.whitman wrote:I take it you like it? Does that mean it's not nearly as cutthroat and depressing as people make it out to be?legallybrunette16 wrote:Hey all,
I'm a 1L at Cornell, accepted EA last year on 12/08.
Keep your heads up. It will all be worth it in the end.

For those of you who were talking about "well you had slightly better GPA" "lsat was higher" etc...
I think, based on Cornell's index formula, .09 GPA = 1 Lsat point
So if their medians are 168 and 3.71, then 169 and 3.62, and 167 and 3.8 should be roughly equivalent

Looking at Law School Numbers, this is decidedly not true.NorCalBruin wrote:For those of you who were talking about "well you had slightly better GPA" "lsat was higher" etc...

It's probably due to the fact that 167/3.8+ are a lot more common than 169/3.6+

I mean, you're right. It's only theoretically true, they'll prob. always take the higher LSAT if given the choice.
But hey, a boy can dream?

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
Just submitted today. Cornell is a reach and a half for me, but they sent me a really nice viewbook and a letter about how much they appreciate diversity etc. and offered me a fee waiver, so I figure it's worth a shot.

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
Boy I hope so! But the more I think about it, the more I realize we all know basically nothing about Cornell's review process (except maybe that they usually send out decisions between 10-11 am eastern time, but even then there are exceptions).
Those update numbers could mean anything.
They might have a computer that automatically makes sure they send out a certain number of admits, deferalls, dings that they've already decided on. Who knows?
No one really knows, so I've given up on speculation.
