Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
Seems like the deferrals are going to semi cornell-splitters (low GPA, high for cornell LSAT).

I would like to know as well. Are deferals coming through email or status check or both?Aggiegrad2011 wrote:Is it popping up Deferred on the status checker?

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
Just got a deferral. Way to let the wind out of my sails. I mean, after my Columbia ED fails my first choice school is Cornell. Why oh why would you defer me? If you're going to deny me, deny me so I can forget about you. If you want me around later, waitlist me so I can send LOCI. If you wanna let me in, why wait for me to forget about you and get excited about schools that gave a shit enough to give me an answer before march? Tisk Tisk on you.
Btw, 3.42, 174 and competitive softs. UR on the 2nd/9th/today.

Is a deferral the same as "reserve" and how does it differ from wait-list? I was under the impression that a Cornell "reserve" is basically like a "wait list" where you have to do the LOCI etc thing?Spackledgoat wrote:Just got a deferral. Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
It sounds to me like they just lump my application with those who waited until the last minute to submit, and we fight over the last few spots. Hmm, that'd make an excellent show on TV: CORNELL GLADIATORS!
By the way, does anyone know if I should send in a LOCI and stuff? Or will it still be march hell for me? Shitty that I could have applied after the early acceptance date and found out a result sooner. Stupid system.

Shit, I just updated this afternoon. 12/2 --> 12/7 --> 12/10. Am thinking that might not be such a good thing given all the deferrals today.

Okay, I see your optimism game, and I can play that. Either way, though, I feel a little saddened by all the YPing. I hope that Cornell will prove very responsive to LOCI from those deferred due to YP.

I hope they are responsive to LOCI+Visit from NON-YP reserves also (that'd be me, unless I get outright denied).Excellence = a Habit wrote:Okay, I see your optimism game, and I can play that. To me, a deferral is superior to a denial, which is what I am expecting. At least w/ a deferral I can go crazy with showing them how much I love them, including a campus visit and lots of LOCI looooove.romcomromcom wrote:i think it seems like it is the 12/10 updates that have been getting deferred...

Deferral is much better than a waitlist.Aggiegrad2011 wrote:Is a deferral the same as "reserve" and how does it differ from wait-list? Well I cannot possibly be YP if I get deferred, so that wouldn't make sense.

Interesting. Why do they only offer 3 options for decisions though? Accept, reject, or reserve?whymeohgodno wrote:Deferral is much better than a waitlist.Aggiegrad2011 wrote:Is a deferral the same as "reserve" and how does it differ from wait-list? Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
Right from my status checker (that I have now looked at about 50 times in the last hour):
"...You will receive a decision of admit, reserve, or deny by mid to late December..."
Where are the other 2?

I'm guessing reserve can mean either waitlist or deferral.Aggiegrad2011 wrote:Right from my status checker (that I have now looked at about 50 times in the last hour):
