I was using Chrome as well, but for some reason, I can't get the application materials with my (home computer's) version of Explorer either. They did appear when I used Explorer from work, so it might have to do with the version being used.

Side note to any other AF FLEP/ELP applicants--it's not a big deal if you already obtained your application materials elsewhere, but if you can access the materials via the site, there is a FLEP/ELP Schools Form that I haven't seen anywhere else. It's just the form you use to list the schools you've applied to, but it also has spaces for tuition cost and the first day of school.

The results came out on January 15 of last year, so my best guess, based on the corresponding date this year, is that the results could be out this Friday, January 14. Good luck!

This is what I got from my FSO:

There's been a delay in publishing those selected for the Summer Intern
Program. It is published on JAGCNET in the same way as the Select List for
active duty applicants. All those who applied should also receive
correspondence in the mail. All I know at this point is that there's been
a delay. The Active Duty Select and Alternate Lists were published last
week. If I get any updates on the selectees for the summer internship, I
will let you know.

Sorry to hear that Baylan. My GLP interview is tomorrow. Any unexpected questions you think another SJA may ask?

Also, for anyone to answer: I noticed a minor typo on my resume after I submitted my packet (I had to submit my packet before they would schedule the interview), and I plan on pointing it out to the SJA with a corrected version. Is this a bad idea? Should I just ride it out and hope it's unnoticed or so minor that they do not care?

Texan09 - I too noticed a typo on my resume. Did you end up pointing out the mistake to the SJA? My interview is tomorrow (DAP). Couldn't be the end of the world to try and offer an updated-fixed resume, could it?

I know I can find this answer somewhere in this thread but I am at work and the lawyers I work for are pricks and monitor my online usage all the time. I am a 0L starting law school in the fall what is the best way to compete to be a JAG from day one. MY law school is very near Wright Pat AF base. Any advice will be very appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Credited response. Truly, dig through the pages and you will see the paths applicants have traveled in pursuing DAP, GLP, and OYCP. I probably even have some posts from 2-3 years back talking about my internship at Wright-Patt legal. While there are a number of great contributors to this thread, make it easy on us with direct questions - the squishy "what should I be doing with my life for the next 3+ years" are both too broad and subjective to really be worth answering.

It is also worth considering the wisdom of calling your employers pricks on something they may be monitoring.

Direct question: is it worth calling WP or going there in person and telling them I am interested in JAG and ask them for some advice, or is that a bit immature and odd?

Masters Bateman and Esquire have done a fantastic job. I'd just like to add that you may want to do some self-evaluation and find whatever it is that made you need 0L (and in all likelihood, 0L with 7 months before classes start) advice right this moment, even though you knew you were being watched, as opposed to waiting until you were done with work.

Once you find it, eliminate it.

I pointed out the error to the SJA and gave her a corrected copy. She made it seem like it was no big deal and placed the corrected copy in my packet. So, for what it is worth, I would recommend pointing it out.

Wow you took the whole monitor thing way way to far. One I work for one of my uncles and he already is aware that he is a JO. Two and more importantly I wouldnt have said anything if I thought in anyway shape of form my job would be in jeopardy. That being said all your statements are duly noted. It is not as if I am that stupid, even though I could see how it came off that way. Thanks.

Unless you have a military/dependant ID, you won't be getting on base without an escort.

Base legal offices do not have an official recruiting officer for this sort of stuff but generally there is a CGO that volunteered or was voluntold to handle it. You can always call and ask but there is not really much that anyone can do for you this early in the game. They can break down the different programs for commissioning but that is something you can just as easily determine on the official recruiting website.

That said, if you find a JAG that has the time and inclation to talk to you, no real harm can come of it. I did this thing fairly often for 1Ls when I did the recruiting thing at my base but that was because I like helping JAG hopefuls and was willing to burn my time to do it.

Any idea as to whether the Feb AF board is less competitive than the others? The recruiter with whom I spoke gave me that impression.

In my completely humble opinion, I think that it can be very valuable to observe a court-martial if you are able to. In addition to the experience itself, it is great during your GLP interview to say "when I was here last summer observing..."

The summer before my 1L year I spent a week at a base watching a court-marshal and I think it made my interview flow much better. It was also a great chance to build some rapport prior to my official interview and application process. Obviously there are some pit falls, if you come off as a nuisance or something. I also had a military ID, so access was not a problem.

Yes. 6% will be selected instead of the usual 4% or 5%.

Just kidding. There is not an easy board out there, given that the number of applicants has yet to abate and that there are a fixed number of slots each year. Also consider a still shitty economy, continued popularity and increased DVD sales of the classic CBS series "JAG," etc.

Anyone know when the next Army Reserve board will be? JARO just has info on the most recent board with a Dec 31st deadline.

A few questions:

Navy Student Program - My understanding from reading the website is that you can start applying once you have finished your 1L year and that you can keep applying until you graduate for a total of 4 boards. Is this correct?

Letters of Recommendation - For those of you applying to multiple branches, are you using certain LORs for multiple branches, or are you using separate LORs for each branch?

Navy JAG Application Site - I can't seem to access it in Chrome or IE. Do I suck at the internet, or is there something wrong with the site?

I've had my letter writers provide multiple versions of the letter. If I remember correctly, each branch had slightly different instructions on who it should be addressed to.

As for the Navy JAG site, I haven't had any trouble with Firefox (on a mac).

TITCR. Each branch has specific instructions as to how to address the letter. Unless your LOR provider is using a typewriter, it probably isn't a big deal for them to change the header and any references within the letter to the specific branch.

To OP of the question, yes you can first apply to the SP after you have your 2nd semester law school grades (assuming you're full-time). I never had any problems with the Navy's website, except when it kicked out this weird message about me not being professionally recommended. I'm sure that was a glitch though...

Hey all, posted this somewhere else but realized it's probably more appropriate here:

I have a quick question for anyone who has experience w/ the JAG Corps and the Navy's LEP Program. Someone who went through the program years ago encouraged me to apply to a lot of the top schools, despite being well below the median (160 LSAT and 3.3 Math major/Spanish minor from the Naval Academy in 2008). I submitted an addendum explaining that I was applying through Navy's LEP program (Navy pays all of my tuition and guarantees me a job as a JAG afterwards, if I am lucky enough to be selected). Just wondering if anyone knows whether being a LEP applicant pulls that much weight w/ the application process? Also, does applying w/ three years in and being active duty help?
FYI, I applied to UVA, G'Town, UPenn, Boalt, USD, William & Mary, George Washington, & UCLA. Thanks for any input!

It may help a little, but I don't think it'll be enough to get you into most of those schools. LEP is the best deal in the Navy - if you want it, I would highly recommend applying to a few lower ranked schools. A friend of mine got LEP a few years ago with similar numbers from USNA and went to a Tier 2 school. Good luck.

Lol. I never saw "A Few Good Men" until my JAG Paralegal friend showed me. He's now an Apache pilot. Probably smarter than us wannabe-JAGs, at least in one sense.
