DOJ CRT Lateral Openings
Starting a thread for updates related to these positions that closed a few weeks ago (trial attorney, appellate, criminal section).
I heard from one trial section about an interview, but wondering whether other sections have heard or if they would have all gone out at once.

I applied to all and heard nothing, for whatever that’s worth. Mind sharing how far out from school you are?

I applied to SPL, criminal, and appellate. Got an email a few weeks ago informing me that I’d been deemed tentatively eligible for the appellate opening, but nothing from appellate since and nothing from the other sections. Also 4 years out, two clerkships.

I got an interview invite from another section re: the trial attorney position, so it appears not all interview invites went out at once. Anyone have any insight into the interview process? And has anyone heard from the appellate section?

Would you mind sharing which sections you've heard back from? I'm mostly interested in educational opportunities but haven't heard back from any of the sections (SL, Employment, Educational). Thanks so much and best of luck with your interviews!

Also still waiting for appellate and haven’t heard of anyone who has heard. My understanding is that the interviews are very standardized and mostly behavioral questions.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Apr 04, 2023 2:57 pmI got an interview invite from another section re: the trial attorney position, so it appears not all interview invites went out at once. Anyone hear how long after interviews until we hear back? Are all sections doing 2 rounds?

I think each section is different because one section told me it’s only one round.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2023 12:34 pmAnyone hear how long after interviews until we hear back? Are all sections doing 2 rounds?

Has everyone who interviewed been asked for references? Two sections asked me but radio silence from the other

Mind sharing which sections? I haven’t been asked but I haven’t interviewed yet with one section and have a second interview with another, so maybe it’s not time yetAnonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2023 3:28 pmHas everyone who interviewed been asked for references? Voting and disability asked; education has not.

Interestingly, just got an interview invite from a section that people had heard from awhile ago. So maybe they don’t release all invites at once, or they didn’t like who they interviewed? Lol

Still waiting to hear from Appellate. Haven't gotten anything since the email saying I'm tentatively eligible in mid-March. Anyone else?
Do you think they're waiting until the other sections have finished interviews before starting them for Appellate? I seem to remember the Appellate job posting closing about a week after the one for all the other sections, so I wonder if that affects the order of operations.

I haven’t heard anything since the tentative eligibility email either. But, they also had fewer openings (only up to 3 I think) so maybe they’re just interviewing fewer people? I don’t know why they’d wait to interview until after the other sections. The other sections have been interviewing at the same time, and I’m sure appellate knows that some candidates likely applied to other sections.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Fri Apr 21, 2023 1:18 pmStill waiting to hear from Appellate. Re: DOJ CRT Lateral Openings
For those who have gotten interviews, did you receive a notification that you had been referred to the hiring manager first, or was your first communication the request for an interview? Also, did you receive the interview request from the Section Chief, HR, or someone else?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
