Has anyone heard from ATR after being designated a finalist?
I’m also curious about this!
Also curious about this - has anyone heard about if/when offers have gone out for ATR-WASH?

In the civil division, do alternates really sometimes get offers? Or is it a situation where the component designates alternates because they have to, but it’s super rare to need them? I don’t know many people who have applied to the program, and I guess I’m wondering if anyone has heard of CIV alternates actually getting spots? … if I haven’t gotten a call by now should I assume it’s not going to happen? That’s been my assumption but a small part of me is still hopeful.

Does anyone know if EOIR offers have gone out - for OGC or OCIJ?

Has anyone heard from OCIJ other than the one reddit user?
Also curious about this. I’m still waiting but talked to someone who went through the program 2 years ago who said she didn’t receive and offer until early January, although she said she believe she was an alternate.

I’ve seen two people (one on Reddit, one on this forum) say they’ve received offers from OCIJ. I’m still waiting on OCIJ and BIA. Although I’ve heard of people receiving offers for OCIJ as late as January.

All of Civil Division has finished hiring. I didn’t see Deana post an update message, but I got the rejection email. So I thought I’d let folks know.

Is salary negotiable for DOJ honors position offers? Question is specific for AUSA offices but happy to hear from anyone.
I know this is an old post but replying in case anyone is still wondering, because I know I was.
I’m currently trying to negotiate salary with OCIJ. They set my salary at a one GS level below what I am eligible based on my experience. Specifically, I will have 2 years of experience by the time I start the position, whereas the salary they offered is commensurate with one year of experience. I also received an offer from BIA which is set at the “correct” GS level based on my experience.
I first reached out to the EOIR point of contact asking if it’s possible to discuss salary. She directed me HR and stated HR would present my case to the OCIJ hiring official.
So based on her response, I don’t think negotiating is completely off the table. It seems like they have a system for those inquiries. I’ll update if I get a response back.

Still, I don't think this counts as "negotiating" as envisioned by the question and I, as others have stated, doubt you'd get anywhere absent something like the error in your case

Yeah, correcting an error is very different from negotiating. Negotiating would be getting something above the standard salary correctly calculated.

Is there anyone else that was a finalist for ATR but has yet to receive a rejection letter? At this point I'm not really holing out hope that I got it but it would be nice to have a rejection letter so I can stop wondering if there's even a slight chance (especially after the last post on the community board that said ATR finalists are still under consideration).

Anyone heard anything about ATR-WASH? I’ve been a finalist for two months with no update…

Do you still have to rank components when you apply?

Curious how competitive of an applicant I'd be for Criminal or Civil Rights Honors with 2 USAO externships by the summer and top 5%+L Rev from a T6. Thanks!

I mean, stats-wise, you'll be near the top and you should probably know that. I agree with the poster above me that whether you have a clerkship will probably make a big difference - anecdotally, everyone I've seen get those positions has clerked. What we can't know from just listing your accomplishments is if you can make a good pitch for public service. You probably can with 2 USAO externships, but it is a fairly holistic review so you'll need to put together a good narrative.

Historically I think Crim has been slightly less competitive just because there are usually more openings - CR has historically taken very few people which makes them tougher. You will also need to be able to demonstrate commitment to civil rights work specifically, which externing for a USAO won't necessarily show (unless you got to do any significant affirmative civil enforcement stuff).

Top 5% T6 + LR poster here. No clerkship as of yet but I'm a 2L and am applying on plan.

How many Crim spots are there? I thought less than 10.

I worked in gov't before law school and my resume screams public service ... but is that enough esp. if I do not clerk?

Numbers of spots varies. I think around 10 sounds right for Crim, it’s just that CRT tends not to hire many (one year recently it was 3, I think).

Government and public service background is great and you’ll probably be able to put together a very strong application. It’s just honestly kind of a crap shoot because there are a lot of strong candidates out there and it’s not a lot of openings. You’ll probably be very competitive but that’s as much as anyone can say.
