Pathways from Civil Practice to USAO Criminal Division

Post by Anonymous User » Wed Nov 03, 2021 1:30 am

Hi. I'm an aspiring AUSA working as a civil litigator at my V50. Right now, I'm a rising midlevel (sixth year), with decent work experience, including courtroom experience (arguing motions, appeals, etc). Ideally, sometime next year, I was hoping to jump ship to a USAO at a major market (ideally in the east coast--NY, PA, DC, etc) doing criminal prosecution. Could someone let me know what my odds are for this, or what I should do to position myself best for this transition? Oh, and for other stats: I graduated from the T14 in the top 20% and clerked for both the district court and COA.
