Anyone have recommendations on housing that is walking distance to Washington DC metro stations?

Depends on the metro line--it may be cheaper to not live in D.C. at all.

I'd join the Washington, DC housing, apartments, and sublets fb group. The transient nature of DC makes it really easy to find normal roommates and good priced sublets if you don't mind moving around a little.
