UST has identified their finalist. Has anyone been identified as finalist by CIVIL-COMM.?
I interviewed with CIV-COMM in October. They checked my references in the weeks after. That's all I've heard. Anyone hear anything from CIV-CONS?

Anybody else have ENRD or Tax (civ) references checked?
Tax (civ) checked my references the day of my interview.

How many EOIR-OCIJ applicants out there? What were your top choices?
I ranked Boston, Philadelphia, NYC (Fed Plaza), LA (Van Nuys) and San Fransisco.

All of my refs were emailed 2 hours after my interview!

Would love to know what you all ranked as well?!

I ranked Detroit, Cleveland, Buffalo, Arlington, and Chicago - Hoping that there are spots open!
My refs were emailed same day as interview, too!

I ranked Memphis, Arlington, Charlotte, Cleveland, and Philadelphia. Fingers crossed.

Is anyone clear on what happens post-finalist designation? In looking through the previous year's posts it looks like we wait on a phone call from the particular component to see if we're going to be issued an offer, and then a formal offer letter would follow. Does anyone have any insight beyond this?

That’s how it’s always happened in the past, a phone call from the component making an offer. IME many come after Thanksgiving, but that can vary by year/scheduling differences, so don’t take that as gospel. It’s also been my understanding that formal offer letters don’t go out until you’ve accepted (most people accept on the spot).

Just posting to see if anyone has had any updates from CIV-COMM or CIV-CONS. My references were checked for COMM the week after I interviewed (first week interviews were conducted). Nothing from CONS that I know of.
Same here. My references were checked for COMM shortly after my interview, and I was designated as a finalist. I do not believe CONS has checked my references, nor has my status changed.

I'm confused by this whole "Finalist" designation process. I interviewed with CRT, and they specifically told me in the interview that we wouldn't hear anything further from them until the second week of December, when they'd extend offers. Didn't mention "finalist" designations at all, and specifically said that no updates/action would come until then. But Deana's post said all components are supposed to designate finalists by the end of this week. Did I misunderstand something? Does CRT just do their own thing out of sync with others? Anyone have any light to shed?

Not publicly, no. It’ll take the place of “selected for interview” on the front page of your application.

I interviewed with CRT as well and also got the early December estimate for offers. The way I understand it is CRT will designate finalists this week, then call in early December with offers. Not all finalists get offers because some are alternates if offers get rejected. Some divisions seem to call with offers as soon as they designate finalists. That does not appear to be the case with CRT, who call 1-2 weeks after.

Gotcha. Just a little surprised, since my interview panel literally told me "you won't hear anything until December, so you can relax until then." I was relaxed before I learned this, now I am not.
