What are the best and worst DA's offices to work for after law school? Interested in different metrics--caseload, advancement to interesting cases, mentorship, retention, etc.

Jackson County Prosecutor's office in Missouri is AWFUL.
Pretty corrupt and the attorneys are underpaid.

Santa Clara County DA starting pay is the highest in the nation-- I think they start at 135k not including benefits. Established mentorship program and you usually get 8-10 trials your first year. After a year or two, depending on your performance, you get placed in different units (gen fen, drugs, juvenile, etc). Cutting edge, liberal prosecution philosophy in the office as well.
Downside is a large caseload + expected excellence at every turn forces competition and overwork. Expect 10-12 hour days as the norm.

Orange County hands down worst of the worst. Their reputation is garbage just Google Orange County District Attorney.
