I haven't heard anything either. USAJobs just has me listed as referred. I would assume the earliest any of us will hear back about interviews is April due to Corona.

In regards to HUD -- The Applicant Call Center said the "certificate you have been referred to is open until April 13th." I guess everyone just has a long wait.

Re: Honors Attorney Program 2019-2020 (non-DOJ)
Good news and updates from both HUD and DOE-OCR.
Just got a call this morning (March 24, 2020) from HUD asking if I was still interested. Told me they forwarded me to the regional office I preferred and should hear back within three weeks.
I got this email from DOE OCR on March 19, 2020:
"Thank you for your interest in the position of General Attorney, GS-0905-11/12 (Civil Rights) under OCR-HQ-2020-0016 with the U.S. Department of Education (ED).
You have been rated among the best qualified candidates and have been referred to the selecting official. The selecting official will make further contact with you if they wish to schedule an interview."
Any other news from you all?

Have any of you received an offer to interview after letting HUD know which regional office was your top choice?

Goodness. Hopefully we hear back soon. The wait was bad before, but this quarantine makes it brutal.

Is anyone concerned about the honors programs moving forward in the fall due to coronavirus? I accepted an offer with one of them and I’m getting nervous that the program will be cancelled.

Re: Honors Attorney Program 2019-2020 (non-DOJ)
As someone who did an honors program: I don't think that's likely to happen. These are generally long-standing programs that are baked into the budgets, and are pretty highly valued. I can't say anything for certain, but I would imagine that if agencies got to the point of canceling an honors program *that they've already hired for* (as opposed to not having one at all next year) it's because things get exponentially more apocalyptical such that there are bigger problems at stake. At worst I can see pushing start dates back somewhat to avoid having to on-board people remotely.
Again, I'm not in charge of anything so I'm just an anon giving you my opinion. But I don't think people hired into honors programs are at risk.

I think they could call any day this week. I initially got the call on Wednesday, March 25. So, I figure 3 weeks would be up on Friday.Anonymous User wrote:Well folks I guess if we don’t hear back from HUD today it’s a done deal :/

Has anyone heard back from HUD yet? Tomorrow is a government holiday, so they can't be telling us tomorrow...Anonymous User wrote:I think they could call any day this week. Seems like none of us have heard back. Things have changed since they sent out the emails and calls to see if we were still interested, I am wondering if the stay at home orders have slowed things down.

Re: Honors Attorney Program 2019-2020 (non-DOJ)
If none of us have heard back then it just has to be a delay on their part. There is no way we were ALL deemed unqualified by several regional offices. I'm guessing there's been a long wait because the regional offices are in cities that have been hardest hit by COVID. Another position I interviewed for in NYC a few months ago called me for a follow-up interview just last Friday because things started to hit the fan there late February, and it was only now that they were able to circle back to hiring their fall class.Anonymous User wrote:Seems like none of us have heard back. Still haven't heard anything from HUD since that phone call on March 24 or from DOE-OCR since that email.
Side note-
Does anyone know if they do delayed starts? I might have secured a temporary legal job that wraps up early January 2021. Wondering if Honors programs ever allow delay starts for fellowships or clerkships?

I also haven't heard anything since that same phone call and email. My school's career office said some agencies might be doing hiring freezes. Agencies did this after the 08 recession. Has anyone had an interview yet?

I think they probably have bigger concerns right now - like the housing crisis
I did send an email out asking for a status update this morning. Hoping to hear back soon.

Thanks for taking one for the team!
Honestly if they’re still hiring...everyone I’ve talked to thinks the federal government has high need right now. For obvious reasons. So maybe that boosts our chances lol!!!
