Are they ever gonna hire enforcement attorneys in NY? Or did I somehow miss the posting? (Anon because I want to apply obviously.)

you missed the posting. i don't think they did it on usajobs, i think they did it on linkedin and their website, etc. but they had a ton of candidates, including the backlog of everyone who had cold applied.

Does anyone know how the written portion works? I have mine coming up and there hasn't been much guidance on what to expect...

Has anyone that’s interviewed gotten any feedback or an offer?

Also interested to hear if anyone has recently received an offer (or rejection) and what the turn around time was after interviewing.

Got an offer 1.5 weeks after my interview.

If you only had a first round interview and haven't heard anything by now, unfortunately I think that means you're not getting it.

If you had a second round interview and haven't heard anything, there's probably still some time, but not much.

Good luck, everyone.

I got my rejection voicemail this week saying that they had selected someone else for the position I interviewed for and that candidate had accepted.

Sorry to hear that. How long ago did you interview? Did you do two rounds?

That sucks. It seems like the worst may be over for the hiring freeze, so perhaps next year there will be more openings. So just keep abreast of everything and keep in contact with anyone you know there.

Have any of you that applied actually held a securities license prior, such as a series 6 or series 7? Would that count as experience? Or at least a demonstrated interest? Or is it more of doing an internship as an SEC JLC and using that to get you in? I’m also amazed on the higher comp sec attorneys get. Very comparable to big law.

There have been a fair amount of openings posted in the last couple months. For one posting, it's been almost a month since I got notified my application had been referred to the hiring official and I haven't heard anything. Should I take this as a sign that they're interviewing other people or does it really take this long just to get contacted for an interview?

This is entirely from my experience, but the steps of my process look something like this:
  • Apply for posting
    Get asked for more documents
First round interview lasting roughly 40 minutes with certain script questions
Second round interview with panel and 90 minute writing exercise
How much time in between each stage?

Lots of time between application closing and interview request. I recently got an offer for a position that took so long to reach out to me that I was assuming I had been rejected. Two weeks between first round and second round. Another two or so weeks between second round and offer. You can ignore all the emails from USAJobs; unless it says you've been rejected, they are just noise. Interview request will come from OHR.

Wouldn't shock me if the pending change in administration has people concerned about whether all the sudden the Senate is going to start caring about the deficit again, which could affect budget and therefore hiring.

If you are referring to the Texas opening, I received a notification that my application was not being referred to the hiring managers. I believe that was back in January. So I believe applications have already been reviewed. Not sure if this helps.
