Had a final round interview with CPCS on January 6th. Haven't heard from Brooklyn Defender, NYC Legal Aid, Office of the Appellate Defender, or NDS of Harlem.

Did you hear anything from CPCS after your interview? I am interviewing with them for my final panel round soon, and was wondering how you found this interview?

Re: 3L Public Defender Applications
I was rejected from Miami after the final round of interviews in December. I hear that they are contacting people for their next cycle of interviews. I haven't heard really from anywhere else, but I recently received an email from NYC Legal Aid Criminal Practice asking me to resubmit my materials because they changed their "system." I know that Colorado has been giving out offers to people.

I know Kentucky is starting to hand out offers from their last round of interviews ~ 3 weeks ago.

Has anyone heard from NYC Legal Aid Society, or know anyone who has gotten offers?

They are aiming to make decisions in May, although supposedly some early offers have been extended (to former interns I'm guessing).Anonymous User wrote:Has anyone heard from NYC Legal Aid Society, or know anyone who has gotten offers?

They told me that they would be making decisions in May whether to give applicants the second round interview with the head public defender. Do you have any idea if this interview is more of a formality where an offer will likely be given, or do you think there will be another month period or so until a decision is made based on applicants who had a second interview?

I was told by Legal Aid that they would contact me in the middle of May to inform me whether I would get the second interview. They have not contacted me yet.

Hi Anonymous above, I was surprised to see you saying a classmate got an entry-level offer for the Federal Defenders in NYC. I thought they generally wanted prior full-time criminal defense experience or hired post-clerkship. Do you know if this was an advertised position or if the classmate got the offer coming off an internship there? If you don't feel comfortable posting, I'd more than appreciate a PM to find out more!

I had a second round interview with NYC Legal Aid several weeks ago. I was told they are hiring 65 people and are giving offers out on a rolling basis over the next month.

65? Damn that's huge. Do they hire primarily out of their intern pool?Anonymous User wrote:I had a second round interview with NYC Legal Aid several weeks ago. I was told they are hiring 65 people and are giving offers out on a rolling basis over the next month.

I didn't hear that in the interview, but I imagine it must be a big plus.Cinderella wrote:65? Damn that's huge. I got an offer shortly after graduation, but I had another offer so they sped it up for me. I had two rounds of interviews - the first was a panel interview, the second was a one-on-one interview.Anonymous User wrote:Has anyone heard from Legal Aid recently?
Has anyone heard what borough they are assigned to yet?

Have you received your offer letter yet? Did it come via email or regular USPS?

They sent me my offer letter via email (a scanned copy) and via snail mail a while ago.Anonymous User wrote:Anonymous User wrote:I got an offer shortly after graduation, but I had another offer so they sped it up for me.
