Big Firm v Federal government

Post by Hopeful5 » Wed Nov 03, 2021 10:21 pm

Waiting to hear back from some federal agency honors attorney programs and trying to decide if I should try to do a large firm instead. If I get an agency job I will probably love the work, but drown in my student loans. If I go to a big firm I could pay them off quickly but then not sure if I could get back into these agencies. Any thoughts?

If you get a government job, you’re eligible for Public Service Loan Forgiveness. That said, lots of agencies hire laterals out of biglaw as well, depending on the practice area.
