Summer Pay Schedule

For those in Big Law, are summer associates actually paid weekly? Or is it semi monthly? Also, how long after starting do you get your first paycheck ?
Generally semi-monthly, so my most summers get their first check two weeks after they start.
I believe that some firms pre-pay/advance your first check before you start, but I don't think that is the norm.
