Bidlist Critique for DC: Top 10-15% at MVPB

Post by Anonymous User » Tue Jun 21, 2022 7:48 pm

Interested in Antitrust and Appellate Lit. Would be OK with general commercial lit. Sent CoA clerkship apps last week (I'm in FedSoc) but haven't heard anything. Planning to throw secondary markets in throughout the list. Thanks in advance.

Do yourself a favor-- bid some NYC. 90% odds you get DC, but why risk it? Not bidding NYC is a recipe for disaster.

If you have no ties to DC and you're not at V (where DC is the 'local' market), I would definitely bid NY (or Bay Area if Berkeley). don't want to strike out

not worried about striking out due to one of the above, but plan to bid some DC just to be safe. should i bid NYC offices of firms I've already bid or more "safety" firms?

You need to bid on New York too. I know several people at my CLS/NYU who were in top 10% who struck out on DC—thankfully they all also bid on some great NY V10 firms so they were alright. DC can be a potential bloodbath for anyone really.

I went to V and graduated coif, and got DC offers.

For the love of God, bid some NYC.

You will probably be fine with this list, but you should bid some NYC. Bidding only DC and focusing on practice groups like Antitrust and Appellate is exactly how someone in your position can strike out.

I mean you pretty much applied to every firm in DC so not sure how much we can help you here. BTW if you're thinking antitrust, I'd definitely throw in Crowell & Moring, McDermott, Alston & Bird. Not sure why Arent Fox, Freshfields, McGuire, and Wiley are on this list personally when you don't have the aforementioned. Throw in Harris Wiltshire as well for appellate
