Um, retake? A 166 isn't terrible but it'll fuck over your chances of getting into a T14.

Think I might be there after Dec after I literally gave away 4 points because I missed 4 gimme questions. It hurts, badly. Now I have to apply and retake in Feb for my 3rd and final shot and update apps or wait a year. It hurts.

i retook a 164 which i thought sucked...i would rather have had a 166 but wouldve still retook from thinking that it sucked...so to answer your question...yes it sucks but what can you do??

Maybe you can do a reverse Michael Jackson surgery and claim to be URM?

It does depend - a 166 sucks if it is below the best you can do, because yes, even a couple more points can mean T14 - then again, with a kickin' GPA it can work. 166 is awesome if your best is really 163ish and you killed the test - then you opened up a chance at T14 if your GPA is there, or at least some solid T1's or good $$$ at your local T2.

I got a 166. Not once, but twice. But its not so bad for me, due to my URM status. But I still fell 7 points below my PT average, so I'm retaking for the LAST time in Feb.

So yes...I agree. A 166 sucks!

I didn't study perfectly, but I didn't bomb the test, meaning my retake in June or Feb. can go either way.

I need to take a year off to retake the LSAT.

Just to note - if you need all summer to study, ok - but I really liked taking in June because it is at 1pm. My brain doesn't boot up very well in the AM. Being up to wake up, have some leisure, do a practice section or two if you want, and have no worries about being on time makes it much nicer I think.

A 166 is one of those scores that are higher than you need for many schools (a 164 will serve you well at a lot of T30) but too low for T14.

In conclusion, it sucks.

I may be silly but I think with good LOR, great PS, and optional statements, fantastic GPA and time off from school. A 166 can probably get you into quite a few top schools. Will it get you into HYS - no. But, I think you have a shot at places like Vandy and Texas.

A vast majority of those who take the LSAT would probably love a 166. That said, most of the individuals on top law schools would probably agree with you that it sucks. It could get you into some decent schools (maybe even with some money) in strong markets like Emory and GW, but it sure won't get you into the T14 baring a miracle.

OP, if you're asking this question, I conclude it sucks.

I got a 166. You can get into good schools, but a 166 is one of those numbers where softs might actually matter. We are bottom 25 to some of the best schools in the country.
