How does it feel getting all these poor people's hopes up?

Also, which sections accounted for your errors on your 179 LSAT?

Best way to avoid the test-day drop in score?

1 LG, 2 RC. A huge increase is possible, I'm nothing special.

tons of recent PTs under actual conditions. Good sleep schedule, adequate preparation (obviously), confidence.

How long did it take you to increase from 154 to 179?

How many times have you sat in for the test?

Tons of hard work, tons of times and untimed practice, took Testmasters, tons of supplementary reading. I basically brute-forced my way to a high score.

Missed 2 on RC and 1 on LG.

I studied off and on for about nine months. I retook a 174, which everyone told me was insanity, but I knew I had a 180 or 179 in me. Probably spent 400 or 500 hours on LSAT related studying.

How many months did you study? What was weekly schedule like? And like mentioned before how many times did you actually sit for the LSAT?

sat three times: cancel, 174, 179

studied about 450 hours over the course of 9 months

weekly schedule was anywhere from 15-25 hours/week of PTs and review. I was enrolled in TestMasters, and it is a fine class, but most of my improvement came on my own.

Did you have gradual improvements or was there a time where a lot of things just clicked all of a sudden?

What was your distribution like when you took your first diagnostic?

Keep in mind it's not possible for everyone to prep themselves into the 99%ile. Some ppl will just max out at a 160 or 165.

I got a 154 on my original diagnostic last June and got a 176 on PT 43 yesterday. Hopefully will make it as high as you on the real thing.

I am taking the June '10 Lsat; when do you think I should take my diagnostic, and begin intensive studying?

I missed about 16 on LG my first time out. Other errors were evenly distributed. Really rapid improvement began when I started to recognize the recurrent patterns in LR and LG.

I wouldn't start studying in earnest until 3 or 4 months before the test. This is plenty of time.

by "recurrent patterns" I mean logical relationships that are re-used again and again. Some games and LR questions are almost identical to one another, and when you answer hundreds and hundreds of questions you begin to speak LSAT instinctively. I didn't mean to indicate that I had done research on the prevalence of certain LG types.

I was around 170 at that time. This is before I took the plunge and told myself I would beat the test no matter the cost.

If you could give one piece of advice about improving LR what would it be (aside from seeing the patterns)?

Thanks for looking out for us, very inspiring achievement. Any specific advice that you could offer us test takers that are stuck in the mid 160's?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
