pt 28 lr section 3 q 16

I chose A since it passed the negation technique. It in fact hurt the conclusion but I am not sure why choice b can be better than choice a.

i had also chosen A, this is what i thought after finding out i chose the wrong answer: the hypothesis is that beethhoven's deafness was caused by venereal disease. the evidence they cite is that mercury was ingested in his time to treat VD. however what if everyone ingested mercury? the assumption is that there were people that did not ingest mercury because they did not have VD. so if there were people that did not ingest mercury because they did not have VD, this implies the trace of mercury would mean he was being treated for VD.

hope this makes sense, i'm not sure it does haha.
