LR- Inference questions. A question in which you are infering an answer that MUST be true solely based on the stimulus. With a little reading I am sure you will be able to figure out that this is in the bible veyr quickly.

LG:

Strict Sequencing: 7 horses are in a race. They finish 1 thru 7 with no ties. etc...

Loose Sequencing: jane is taller than max and sue. Sue is taller than kelly. Mike is taller than kelley but shorter than rick. Etc...

Matching: You will match up certian attributes to certian categories.

Selction: series of formal logic statements in the rules. (if you have a green fish you also have a red fish).

Distribution: Putting people in boats. Limited seats/people. The key here is numbers. The deduction alwasy revolves around the numbers of objects being placed/number of spaces.

Hybrid: Combo of 2 of the above.

You should be able to open any games chapter and match up the above with whatever jargon they use in the book.

Basically inference would be all of the Family #1 Models, as they are called in the LR Bible!!!

I guess...

Anything that says, "which of the below would logically follow from the arguement above?" or something like that.

Also, the use of the word "infer/inference" in the stimulus is a somewhat useful clue...

In your study plan you say to only practice questions or problems of a certain type at first. Besides the ones at the end of each chapter of the study books (Powerscore, Kaplan), is there another source you would use for working on those specific question types without going through a whole LR/LG section to sort them out?

Well.... the bibles should have exercises to do by question type. Kaplan provides a Mastery book to its students with the question types segregated. It is a fantastic resource... if you can find it.

You can also just segregate on your own using existing exams.

I took the PR prep course. They, too, have a "Arguments and RC workbook." You can buy it from them for cheap.

Ok so I've been trying to figure out what LG chapters are which. They all seem to be sequecing I don't really see the difference in them. They all look like the same exact game with just different rules!!! This is all sooo confusing and I haven't even started LG yet!!!!

Unfortunately not, Homeless. But PR has Brick and Mortar booths in just about all cities major. The trick is, because they order/receive more test prep materials, from HQ, than they could ever get to use, the remainder of these end up as "trash."

Capitalize on the "trash", by stopping in to just buy what you need.

Now, your approach is what will dictate the price. Literally.

I walked in once and a Director offered to sell the one book I wanted for $50 or the whole packet for $200(7 different books). A week later, I went back, with $50 talked to an instructor, made her aware that I'd offer a small fee for one of the books in her trash inventory.

"Pfff... just take whatever you want; those are so old we'll just trash them anyhow," she advised.

I think the "Arguments and RC workbook" is very helpful, after working through it all, you might have gone through 20+ Preptests of LRs easy.
RCs? Not so much.

That is a great tip. I bet one could do the same thing with Kaplan.

Question about Flaw questions: the LR bible says that these are very similar to Method of Reasoning. What do you think about incorporating Flaw with the later?

I obtained a copy of Kaplan's LSAT Prep on CD, and I have to say it looks like it is geared toward first-graders who are learning to spell and use numbers for the first time.

Are their prep books the same way?

I am about 175 pages into the Logical Reasoning Bible right now and have found it an excellent tool already. This Kaplan LSAT CD seems like a joke though.

I really am still looking for a great RC guide (I'm using yours right now) for diagramming passages, et cetera, and am admittedly cautious about investing any money into a Kaplan book after previewing this CD.

AJ: Flaw question similar to method of reasoning? I disagree, but I would need to read their thought process.

Flaw questions revolve around evidence+assumption=conclusion as well as the "classic flaws" (correlation vs. causation, etc...)

I would study LR as I outlined for the reasons I stated.

MLBrandow: Heh. I am hardly surprised. Kaplan's materials can be spotty. If you have my RC guide as well as powerscore's LR bible and LG bible, then you should be set. The only thing my RC guide does not do (at least, not currently) is discuss specific question types. Have you tried looking at the Kaplan180 book? The prep books I used in class were fine. The Kaplan exercise books were outstanding.

However, I reiterate that it sounds like you have the necessary tools. Let me know if you run into any issues with RC. Inference questions sometimes give people trouble.

I think Africanyon's idea of picking up exercise books from PR or Kaplan is excellent and you could do that to get more study materials.

I hear good things about the kaplan180 but my kaplan lsat premier program is total crap, so is the cd and web resources that came with it. So I
just stopped after the LR section. Doing the bibles now and loving them.
