Men can act decently in indecent times while it also being true that morality does not exist (or at least the kind not based on chance). Yeah?

Dent is attempting to prove that Batman is wrong for thinking that one could be a decent man in an indecent time. His support for this claim is that the world is cruel, and thus the only morality in the world is chance, which is unbiased.

His support does nothing to strengthen his conclusion. Even if we accept that the world being cruel is equivalent to saying that we live in an indecent time, why would having chance be the only morality preclude someone from being a decent man?

Honestly, I'm confused by this claim that morality is chance - what does that even mean? Having flawed arguments from popular media would be a lot of fun, but I think this is a good example of why that would be hard to do. A lot of famous speeches/lines in movies don't hold up as well once we scrutinize them word-by-word, statement-by-statement, the way we do when we approach LSAT arguments.

Even though Harvey Dent's main quality as a character is his cynicism and affected morality he presumes without justification that being decent requires being moral.
