You know, the ones that are usually the last question on a sequencing game. These always eat up a lot of time for me. Do you guys have any strategies that you have found to be helpful?

See if any stick out. Never attempt to prove or disprove one of them (unless glaringly obvious) until you've read every choice.

It's quite rare that they are actually really hard. A good number basically deal with referring to a variable that directly relates to another (i.e. A rule about J being replaced by a rule about K when we are told KJ are a block). It's quite rare we see a rule substitution that involves multiple levels of inferences, but those can be killer.

The answer to a Substitution question on a logic game has to satisfy two criteria.

1. It has to create all of the same limitations that the original rule created.
2. It CANNOT create any NEW limitations that weren't enforced by the original.

So the first thing to do is go over the rule that you're trying to substitute and list out (mentally or on paper) all of the limitations that rule created. Then, when you're checking an answer, see if it creates all the same limitations. If even one of them doesn't match up, OR you notice a new limitation that wasn't created by the original rule, scrap that answer choice immediately and move on to the next one.
