Is there a certain amount of time in terms of weeks that would be optimal to have a score that mimics your PTs or does it come down to a certain NUMBER of PTs one should do that would be adequate?

You should prepare until you feel ready and confident. That will be different for different people.

There's no "right" answer to this question. Even saying that you're confident in your score range isn't adequate, because many test takers are neurotic and will never feel confident.
The rule of thumb that gets floated around on TLS is that you can expect to be in the +3 to -3 range on the average score of the last 5 practice test you've taken.

It truly is based on your comfort. Based on what I have seen on this board, some people are successful with 3 months of prepping vs some of 1 year+. It's truly dependent on your speed of learning.

Yeah the rule of thumb is pretty spot on. Additionally, I have heard that you want at least 20-30 PTs under your belt. Typically, If you have less than that either you are not adequately prepared or are adept at quickly and thoroughly absorbing the information. Moreover, It is usually preferable to save the most recent PTs to do in the weeks leading up to the exam.

Neither. The number of PTs you take is irrelevant for the most part - it's more about how much you learn from taking and reviewing each practice test. And this will take each student a different amount of time. If you can get within 3 points of your target score within 2 weeks of the actual test, then you're in good shape.
