I understand why the correct answer is (E) the ninth bead is yellow, but I don't understand why (B) the eighth bead is green is wrong... Couldn't the strand be PYRPYRGGO and satisfy all the rules? What am I missing??

One of the rules states that in every 8 bead sequence, you've gotta have all the colors. The strand you mentioned doesn't have O in the first 8 beads.

If the first and third are purple while the second and fifth are yellow,
that automatically means positions three and six are both red, forming the strand P-Y-R-P-Y-R-_-_-_.

What colors aren't accounted for? Green and orange.
I notice orange cannot be seventh since it violates a rule,
so orange has to be eighth since every eight-strand must include an orange.

(A) is wrong for the reason stated above; red cannot be placed with orange.
(B) is false; orange is our guy.
(C) MBF.
(D) is off the mark since the ninth spot can be occupied by eanything besides red and orange.
(E) is incorrect for the same reason as the previous AC.

I'm dumb, was just thinking that each color had to be represented within the strand of 9 as a whole and not within the first 8 specifically. Makes sense, thank you!
