The explanations I've looked up just haven't been helpful enough--I don't understand why D can't be correct. I thought of the principle as ~X or ~Y --> ~Z. Isn't the application on its own (~Y--> Z) sufficient enough that Shimada doesn't have to not criticize her own behavior (~X)?
