I saw on an explanation for a MBT question that the person categorized it as an inference MBT question. I wanted to know if there are other sub-categories for MBT?

Not sure what they meant by "inference" MBT, since all MBTs require you to make an inference. At Blueprint we make a distinction between regular and "soft" MBT questions, the latter being the ones that ask for the answer that is "most strongly supported." In that case, the answer may not be a hard inference - you probably won't be able to definitely prove it based on the facts in the stimulus, but it seems very likely/hinted at. The burden of proof isn't quite as high as for regular MBTs, where you can be sure that the correct answer has to be guaranteed. I think the reduced certainty for soft MBTs makes them a bit more challenging - process of elimination helps a lot with those questions. In any case, being aware of what you're dealing with makes things a lot simpler.

Must Be False questions are also very similar to MBTs, except you're looking for the inverse. Instead of trying to find the answer that aligns with the rules, you're looking for one that breaks the rules.
