I was wondering how much time it take you to finish reading the passage in RC while marking and notating?
and how much time it take you to finish reading the passage without marking and doing any notation.
I also would like to know your methods for RC:
Like do you notate every passage ?
Do you skim the passage first then read it again ?

and by the way what is your reading speed in general?
Mine is 190-200 WPM

Any tips for RC will be appreciated.

I use the 7Sage memory method so I've trained myself to take 3.5 minute to read. I haven't gotten to studying just for RC yet, so I don't have much data base this off of

It takes me about 2'30" to 2'45" to read a passage. I read at about 200 wpm normally. I never notate, I just keep a steady pace and make sure I grasp the concepts I'm reading as I read. If I feel like I was reading without the comprehension part because my mind wandered, I'll go back and re-read. Once I get to the questions I just answer them and only double check if I feel some doubt. I've been able to get through all the questions in RC. My scores had been very inconsistent at the beginning up until not too long ago, but for my past four tests I've averaged a -2.75 on the RC so I think I'm back in order. Still would like to get that down to 0. That might involve relying more on double checking the passage instead of relying more on memory.

No, it is free! Works great, but does take some getting used to. But it doesn't involve annotating, but rather using your short term memory.

I am glad you are back in order, I hope you get down to 0. You know I hate notating as well, I just underline and circle important stuff, but I cannot finish the passage in 2:30 mins with circling and underlining. I just started with the RC, so I hope I can improve a bit.

Thank you for the link, I just checked it out. I am gonna try this method, my main concern is I am too lazy to memorize anything
but I 'll give it a shot and see how it works.

I aim for 3.5 and honestly I don't try to go any faster. I end up getting through the questions much faster if I take the time to digest the passage

Ain't that the truth. When you try to rush through the passage, you struggle so much more on the questions. I have come to see it is to your benefit to spend as much time as you need on the passage and then worry about questions. I've spent 4 minutes + on passages and did well on the questions.

I usually finish a passage in about 4 minutes, but this fluctuates between 3.5 and 4.5 depending on the kind of passage. If it's a passage with more than 2 viewpoints then it might take me up to 4.5 mins so I can understand the different viewpoints and not mix them up. But if it's some passage about how some novelist is an inspiration or some crap, then those I can do in like 3.5 mins.

Also, no annotations, just 7sage's memory method.

I think this is a good point, sometimes being fast means we didn't comprehend all the important stuff.

Exactly, when i rush, I pay the price with getting more wrong answers

Well, this is reassuring because I thought spending 4 mins on some passages is a bad thing. You are the second person who recommend the Memory method. I checked it out, I am gonna try applying it and see if it is effective.

Yeah, I'm not sure why some people on here confuse RC with a speed reading test. I mean true, you don't want to take so long that you don't have time to answer the questions, but being able to 'read' the passage in 30 seconds isn't an accomplishment if you're still getting questions wrong. +3 for the memory method; it's very helpful.

You know I've been thinking it was a speed test as well. I was trying to increase my reading speed. So I was using different app on my iPhone and do you what that did.
Now my left eyes twitch every 10 minutes. I Strained my eyes and in to process I had to read less now so that my eyes can relax a little.
