being an lsat instructor requires a bit of an entrepreneurial approach for a large number of people. that may help explain it to a certain extent.

My lsat prep instructor was a female... but, honestly why in the world does this even matter??

Interesting stats. I wonder if it's related to the fact that Philosophy is so male-dominated (I recall being the ONLY woman in my Philosophy program). Though that assumes that most LSAT tutors have a Philosophy background. That would be something else interesting to know...

On the other hand, when I worked at LSAC, although most of the item-writers were men, I don't think that's the case now.

Well, I think gender disparities are always worth consideration. I don't claim "injustice" here, per se, but it's worth noting for general interest and open to speculation as to why. The frequency of philosophy backgrounds and the gender disparity there could be a factor, as one person suggested.
