This is a really random question: is the paper on the real test substantially thinner than the paper on the printed preptest packets? I sometimes erase aggressively, especially on LG - want to make sure to be prepared to be more careful if necessary. Thank you!

You're pretty far down the rabbit hole.

They do this intentionally to minimize erasures - law students (and eventually, lawyers) have to be confident and present the right answer the first time.

Except as far as the LSAT goes, this is legitimate advice. If you're erasing aggressively on the LSAT, you're not ready.

Why not just employ a gentle strikethrough method instead?

Yeah they use this godawful, thin, grey paper. It's like a hybrid between tracing paper and a newspaper. 120.

you don't get to erase things you say in front of a judge, so why would you think its fair to erase on the lsat? this is a possible character and fitness issue on your bar application, just fyi.

I personally felt the test had a tasteful thickness

The paper is so thin it disintegrates under your eraser. BE VERY CAREFUL.

The paper was so thin that when the proctor plopped it on my desk it essentially turned into ash.

Y'know so many people focus on the length of the test; nice to see thickness get some consideration too.

You would really have to get pretty excited to manage to erase through the paper. Mark somewhat lightly, don't go charging in there with your eraser, and you'll be fine.
