The correct answer choice uses the phrase "by offering independent grounds". Can anyone help me understand what this means? Thanks.

"Grounds," in LSAT-speak, just means "evidence." Peter supports his conclusion (plants should be watered sparingly) with his own grounds (because insects don't like eating drier plants). Then Jennifer gives us an additional piece of evidence supporting Peter's conclusion—the pesticidal toxins—which is entirely separate from Peter's argument (i.e. Jennifer's own "independent grounds"). Hopefully that makes sense.
