Does taking the September LSAT vs. the June LSAT put me at a disadvantage?

I've read in several places that applying as soon as possible is the best approach to law school admissions. However, I don't think I'll be adequately prepared to take the June LSAT so I'm planning on the September test. Will this put me at a significant disadvantage to those that are taking it in June? When people say "turn in apps early" around what timeframe/month are they referring to?

Before Thanksgiving is considered early, after January 1 is on the late side, and February and on is considered late.

Not being adequately prepared is a bigger deal than turning in your app in late October. If you think you can get 3 extra points by waiting, that is the better move. Just prepare your application so that when you get your score back in late October you can submit as soon as possible. Obviously, September is the best for submitting early, and there do seem to be real advantages to that, but I think anything before Thanksgiving should be fine. Maybe not a huge advantage but not a great disadvantage, especially if you took the time to optimize your LSAT.

What will put you at a disadvantage is taking the LSAT before you're ready. If you kill the LSAT in September you'll be early. If you have to retake in December just make sure you have all your apps ready by the time you get your score.

Sorry for high jacking OP post, but this question seems relevant.
What if you already have an LSAT score on file and submit your application at the beginning of September. Then you score higher in September... would this be advantageous? Or just wait to get the score back from September?

I'm interested in the answer to this as well
